Grange speaker

AUBURN – Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Danville Junction Grange for a 6:30 p.m. supper. The business meeting will start at 7:30. Guests will be members of Cumberland Pomona Grange, who will fill the chairs. Guest Lecturer Priscilla Locke will present a program, “Therapy Dogs.” An attendance drawing will be held. All members and guests are invited.

Planning meeting

AUBURN – Danville Junction Grange 65 will assemble at the hall at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, for a planning meeting. Refreshments will be served at the close of the session. All members and guests are welcome.

Breast-feeding

AUBURN – Expectant women and breastfeeding mothers are invited to the La Leche League meeting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at 102 Bennett Ave. Babies are always welcome.

Discussion will focus on “The Advantages of Breastfeeding for Mother and Baby.” All concerns about breast-feeding are welcome for discussion. For breast-feeding help or directions to the meeting, call the La Leche League leader at 782-6645.

Paine reunion

OXFORD – The descendants of Frank and Eva Cooper Paine met on Aug. 21 at the home of Eugene and Mary Record in East Oxford.

More than 90 relatives and friends filled the big barn, with tables lined the length of the barn for a potluck dinner.

Photos were taken and albums past reunions on display. Leona Paine Record was the oldest member present and Peter Morrison III was the youngest at 10 months.

Relatives came from Antiock, Calif., and from Portland, Lewiston, Waterford, West Paris, Bethel, Norway, Otisfield and Oxford.

Bridge results

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Aug. 30 at the Multi-Purpose Center. Winners in Flight A were: first, David Lock and Patricia Garcia; second, Leslie Buzzell and Nancy Lindgren; third, Richard Balian and Lucille Theriault; fourth, Fred Letourneau and Martine Begert; fifth, Mike Quinn and Luke Merry.

Flight B and C winners were: first, Lucille Bilodeau and Linda Leoteakos; second, Bill and Barbara Whitman. Another game will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at the center. A partner is guaranteed.

The club also met on Aug. 31 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Winners in Flight A were: first, Lucille Theriault and Alberta Turner; second, Luke Merry and Paul Barber; third, Fred and Laurie Letourneau; fourth, Jim Flanagan and Ray Sirois.

Flight B winners were: first, Lucille Bilodeau and Alberta Turner; second, Jim Flanagan and Ray Sirois. Another game will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, at Schooner Estates.
