FARMINGTON – The veteran’s advocate will not be at the Municipal Building on Tuesday, Sept. 6. His next visit to Farmington will be Tuesday, Sept. 20, at his usual time of 9 a.m. until noon.

Speaker set

FARMINGTON – Fred Lee, a nationally recognized author and speaker will present “If Disney Ran Your Hospital … Some Things You Would Do Differently with Franklin Memorial Hospital and the Greater Franklin County Community” from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, in the Ben Franklin Education Center at the hospital.

Lee’s motivational presentation will center on how to apply Disney principles to healthcare and other service-oriented professions.

Guide training

RANGELEY – A Maine Guide Training Program will be led by Carroll and Lila Ware, Master Maine Guides, at the Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsmen’s Club. The classes will occur over four days beginning Thursday, Sept. 8, and ending on Sunday, Sept. 11.

Registration will be held Thursday at 7:30 a.m. and classes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will begin at 8 a.m. Classes will end at 4 p.m. each day except Sunday when the class will end at 1 p.m.

The training will include map and compass, lost person scenarios, laws and regulations and practical field examples. The cost is $385 and a deposit is required.

Sunday school

WILTON – A new Sunday school program will kick off at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Wilton United Methodist Church, Main Street. Sunday school will run from 9 to 10 a.m. each Sunday for children ages 4 to 12. All children are invited. An adult Bible school will also take place at that time each week beginning on Sept. 11.

Hymn sing

MADRID – A hymn sing will be held at the Reeds Mill Church at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11. The public is welcome to spend an evening of singing favorite hymns under the light of the gas lamps but are advised to also bring a flashlight. For more information, call Ginni at 639-2713.

Dance class

Free luncheon

FARMINGTON – The Old South First Congregational Church will hold its first-of-the-season free community luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10.

This month’s meal will be a cookout, and the menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs, Italian sausages with peppers and onions, macaroni salad, coleslaw, cookies and bars.

Deliveries are available in the Farmington area. Call the church office at 778-0424 during the week to place an order.
