AUBURN – Elisha Dorso recorded a hat trick and added an assist to propel St. Dom’s to a 4-3 victory over North Yarmouth in a Western Maine Conference field hockey matchup.
The Saints (2-0) jumped out to a 2-0 lead by halftime. Dorso’s assist came on Kayla McKay’s tally. Austyn Carolin made five saves in net to notch the win.
Ingrid Knowles, Erin Witham and Denise Moriba scored for NYA in the second half. Moriba also contributed an assist on Witham’s goal, while keeper Sarah Holden put in a stellar performance with 31 saves.
Fryeburg 3, GNG 1
GRAY – Erin Snow tallied a pair of goals as Fryeburg edged Gray-New Gloucester for a 3-1 victory Wednesday afternoon.
Snow recorded both the first and the last goals of the game. Heidi Richards, who assisted on one of the goals, scored the other goal for the Raiders.
Shaina Cabana converted a pass from Sonya Ritter to score the lone goal for the Patriots.
Lisbon 3, Hall-Dale 2, OT
READFIELD – Amanda Stevens one-timed a pass from Erica Merritt from the top of the circle as Lisbon downed Hall-Dale 2-1 in overtime.
The two forwards played pass while advancing in the offensive zone until Stevens found the perfect shot and won the game 3:45 into extra time.
Freshman Kelly Bourgoin added a pair of first-half goals for the Greyhounds (2-0), including one on a cross from Stevens. Courtney Mills and Katie Frett each scored for the Bulldogs (0-2).
Beth Williams and Rachel Beal split the netminding duties for Lisbon, combining for nine saves. Alyssa Withey stopped 12 shots for Hall-Dale.
Girls’ soccer
Mt. Abram 2, Dirigo 1
DIXFIELD – Logahn Walker converted a feed from Hanah Jones to score the game-winning goal in overtime as Mt. Abram edged Dirigo 2-1 Wednesday afternoon.
The Roadrunners’ first goal came off an unassisted boot by Morgan Cummings with 35 seconds left in the contest to send the game into overtime.
Melissa Harvey notched the lone goal for the Cougars off a pass from Katie Hutchinson early in the second half.
Mtn. Valley 1, Monmouth 0
RUMFORD – Brittany Billings scored an unassisted goal to lift Mountain Valley to a 1-0 triumph over Monmouth in MVC girls’ soccer action Wednesday.
Billings picked up a cross from outside, redirected the ball towards the goal, and booted it to the back of the net for the Falcons (1-0).
Mountain Valley held the edge in corner kicks at 2-0, and in shots on goal at 23-7. Karri McPherson turned away six shots to preserve the shutout.
Winthrop 6, Jay 3
JAY – Kristi Zimmerman and Meghan McCarthy each notched two goals to help Winthrop come from behind to post a 6-3 victory over Jay in MVC girls’ soccer action Wednesday.
Zimmerman started the scoring with a goal 45 seconds into the game. McCarthy then followed with back-to-back goals. After Zimmerman’s second goal, Brianna Tupper and Brittany Gaudet rounded out the scoring for the Ramblers (2-0)
The Tigers (0-2) scored all their goals in the first half. Ashley Brooks, Katie Mann, and Julie Nelson were each credited with a goal.
