Dow seniors

AUBURN – Robin Dow Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Alden M. Gayton Post 31, American Legion, 426 Washington St. The board of directors will meet at 10 a.m.

A bag lunch will be followed by bingo. Tickets for the Halloween party Oct. 26 will be on sale Sept. 28 and Oct. 12 for $4. There will be the usual raffle table. Garden vegetables are welcome.

Seventy-seven members were present at the Aug. 24 meeting led by Vice President Merry Strout, in the absence of the president, Dorothy Larrabee. Those having birthdays in August were recognized. Hope Telow and Nancy Bosse won attendance prizes; Lucien Marcoux, Roger Briggs and Midge Demers, pot of gold.

Evelyn Sawin, trip chairwoman, reported a foliage trip to the Weathervane Restaurant in Kittery will take place Friday, Sept. 30, cost $36 (which pays for bus fare and dinner) with a choice of menu consisting of chicken, haddock, shrimp or sirloin tips. Due to demand, another trip is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 2, to Indian Head Resort in Lincoln, N.H., cost $48. Scout sign-ups

TURNER – Cub Scout Pack 187 will have registrations at the following locations: Thursday, Sept. 15, at Turner Primary School from 6 to 7 p.m.; Thursday, Sept. 22, at Turner Elementary School from 6 to 7 p.m.

Scouts will have their first pack meeting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the Nezinscot Lodge. All Scouts are expected to attend and registrations for those who were unable to attend previous registrations will be held as well.

DeMolay crop

NEW GLOUCESTER – A fund-raising crop will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, at the Cumberland Masonic Lodge, Route 100.

Crop fees and 10 percent of all sales will go to support DeMolay. Cost is $20 for the day. Kids will crop for $5. Participants should pre-order albums and tools. Paper, stickers and consumables will be available on the day of crop.

Gospel concert

AUBURN – Court Street Baptist Church will host a Dunnemans gospel concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18.

The Dunnemans have recorded several albums, including their latest title, “Timeless, released in February. For more information, visit www.thedunnemans.net.

The concert will be followed by dessert and fellowship in the church vestry. A free will offering will be taken to benefit the Dunnemans Ministry.

AARP speaker

LEWISTON – The Androscoggin Chapter 4077, AARP, will meet at 1:15 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street. The board of directors will meet at 12:30 p.m.

The speaker will be Kathleen Kienitz, elder law attorney. She will discuss the Medicare changes and the effects it will have to the long-term care planning. She will also answer questions.

Anyone 50 or older is invited to attend the meeting and join the chapter. Refreshments will be served. Attendance and pot of gold drawings will be held.

Yoga classes

LEWISTON – Central Maine Medical Center’s Health and Wellness Services is offering a yoga program beginning Sept. 20.

Participants will be introduced to the world of relaxation and rejuvenation through a six-week yoga program. They will learn how to center and balance through poses, breathing exercise, meditation and relaxation.

There will be two options for participation: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 5:30 p.m. or Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m. A fee will be charged.

The program will be offered at the CMMC Health and Wellness Center, 12 High Street Medical Office Building.
