Clothes event

LIVERMORE FALLS – A clothing give-away will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 24, at Treat Memorial Library. The event is sponsored by the Mizpah Circle of the King’s Daughters and Sons.

School visit

STRONG – The University of Maine at Farmington will take the Magna Carta and Emancipation Proclamation to the Strong Elementary School for viewing at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21. The public is welcome to attend.

Auditions set

FARMINGTON – Sandy River Players will hold auditions for the January production of Hart and Kaufman’s classic comedy “The Man Who Came to Dinner” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, in Lincoln Auditorium, Room C-131, Roberts Learning Center, University of Maine at Farmington.

Club supper

SALEM – The Salem Pine Tree Club will sponsor a spaghetti supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Salem Community Building. The menu will include spaghetti, meatballs and sauce, salad, homemade bread, garlic butter and desserts. Adults, $5; seniors, $4; children 3 to 12, $3; under 5, free; and for a family, $15.

Gospel program

STRONG – The LaClaires will present a program of bluegrass gospel at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, at Forster Memorial Building. There is no admission but donations will be accepted at the door.

The LaClaires, a family musical group spanning four generations, will present a package of acoustic and gospel music on banjo, mandolin, guitar, and “doghouse” bass. They tour the northeastern states and Canada with an occasional southern tour.

Prepare for show

FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington is preparing for the annual Arts and Crafts Show to be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Olsen Student Center. The show is sponsored by the Conference Office.

Many new artists and crafters from across Maine are expected to turn out for the show. All items for sale are handmade/homemade by the artists. Items will include stained glass, jewelry, pressed floral art, handpainted wood and jars, baskets, original paintings and prints of watercolors, pastels and oils, wreaths, handknitted items, porcelain dolls, metal dcor, greeting cards, pottery, birdhouses, handsewn crafts, handspun yarn, country crafts and braided rugs.

College workshop

WILTON – Adults considering college are invited to participate in a free college-planning workshop sponsored by the Maine Educational Opportunity Center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Wilton Career Center.

Adults in Maine who have the college potential but lack the wherewithal to do it alone can find help through MEOC. Registration is free. Call 1-800-281-3703.

Scarecrow reunion

PHILLIPS – Registrations are being accepted for the 14th annual scarecrow reunion to be held starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, on Main Street. Posts for the scarecrows will be in place by Tuesday, Sept. 27, and entrants are asked to wait until the end of the week, just before the 10 a.m. judging, to place their scarecrows in case of windy weather.

A new category has been added this year, semi-professional, for the “above average scarecrow.” Other categories include adult, family, child and group.

Registration forms are available at Phillips Hardware. The event is sponsored by Winona Davenport, Dana and Sharon Dudley and Phillips Hardware for the Phillips Conservation Commission. For more information, call 639-4296.
