OXFORD – Oxford Plains Speedway recently hosted the Community Concepts Volunteer Driver Appreciation Night. Volunteer drivers had free admission to a Saturday night at the races in appreciation for their dedication to their communities.

Volunteer drivers provide more than 250,000 rides each year to medical appointments, rehabilitation services and other critical destinations for residents of Oxford, Androscoggin and Franklin counties. Las year they traveled more than 9 million miles.

Community Concepts presented a commemorative plaque and clock to Bill Ryan, owner of Oxford Plains Speedway, thanking him for his support of the volunteers.

Community Concepts’ Transportation Department provides rides to individuals eligible for MaineCare, as well as to children with special needs through the school system. Volunteer drivers are reimbursed for mileage incurred.
