Apple Fest

MONMOUTH – Monmouth Museum’s annual Apple Fest will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, in and around the museum’s grounds in Monmouth Center.

Museum buildings will be open for tours and there will be demonstrations such as apple pressing. Apples, apple pies (baked by local cooks) and other apple products will be on sale. Attendants can register for special prize drawings at tables where there are other gift items.

Other events will include a pancake breakfast at the fire station; the Theater at Monmouth “Lawn Sale” at the former Grange Hall; and a “Guy Sale” (tools) at the United Church basement.

Lifeguard course

LEWISTON – The YWCA of Central Maine will offer an American Red Cross lifeguard course from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Oct. 4 to Nov. 10.

The course is designed to provide the minimum necessary skills training for an individual to qualify as a lifeguard. Participants must be 15 on or before the last scheduled class. The course includes American Red Cross first aid and CPR for the professional rescuer.

Class reunion

LEWISTON – The Lewiston High School class of 1985 will hold a reunion from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Martindale Country Club, Auburn. There will be a hors d’oeuvres buffet at a cost of $30 a person; $60 a couple. Those attending should RSVP with payment to Nancy (Janas) Roy, 105 Dyer Road, Lewiston, ME 04240. Capacity is limited.

Seeking family

POLAND – Poland Pack 125 Cub Scouts are looking for a family that is in need of help this Christmas season.

Those needing help can write a letter describing their situation and drop it off at the Poland Town Office or e-mail boopa_davis@yahoo.com.

The family will be notified on Nov. 11. Include phone number, address and ages of family members and address Beth Davis, Poland Cub Scouts Secret Santa Christmas. The deadline is Nov. 4.
