AUBURN – The spirit of New Orleans will come early to Maine. Lewiston-Auburn, rich in Acadian heritage and its way of life, can identify with Louisiana’s strength and resilience.

In an effort to help share the burden, Edward Little High School will host an early Mardi Gras on Wednesday, Sept. 28, marching through the hallways to join a celebratory rally in the Red Eddies gym.

Following the parade, with students and faculty adorned in costume, beads and homemade masks, the school will present a check to the American Red Cross that represents a month-long effort of fund-raising activities on the part of the entire school.

This event was born out of the need of the school population to raise a unified voice validating the inherent worth and dignity of everyone and anyone who fell victim to the hurricane.
