Society installs
OXFORD – The Oxford Historical Society met on Aug. 26 at the Kay House meeting room, 73 Pleasant St.
Following a covered dish supper, officers for the year were installed: president, Elton Record; vice president, Dorene Bartlett; secretary, Clarence Merrill; treasurer, John Crumpton; and trustee, Jason Gregg.
The Friday, Sept. 30, meeting will start at 7 p.m., with Roger Jackson of East Oxford speaking on the making of maple syrup. The public is welcome, and refreshments will be served.
Coat sale
NORWAY – Stephens Volunteer Services Thrift Shop will hold its annual coat sale Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 in the thrift shop at its Danforth Street location.
The sale will be held during their business hours, which have changed for the winter season. The shop is open Thursdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Annual meeting
PARIS – The Rape Education and Crisis Hotline will hold its annual meeting of the board of directors on Monday, Oct. 3, at Maurice’s Restaurant, South Paris. The meeting will be from 5 to 6 p.m. with dinner following. Attendees will be responsible for their own meal. For more information, contact the REACH office at 743-9777.
Library hours
PARIS – The Paris Public Library will open at 9 a.m. Monday through Saturday starting Monday, Oct. 3.
To make using the library’s materials and services more convenient for the public, the library’s trustees added the six new hours to the schedule. The library’s new schedule will be: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
