AUBURN – October is National Fire Prevention Month and Papa Gino’s, in conjunction with the Home Safety Council, is teaming up with local fire departments to help educate the community on fire prevention.

The Auburn Fire Department will hold an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Central Fire Station, 550 Minot Ave.

Some of the visuals will include firefighters demonstrating the way to escape a smoke-filled room, fire prevention tips and training and Sparky, the fire safety mascot, interacting with the children.

Each year, fires claim hundreds of lives throughout New England. Open houses are geared toward educating the community and preparing them for potential fires. Each year, the open houses help to better prepare families in the event of a fire and hopefully save lives.

For the past 12 years, New England fire departments and Papa Gino’s have served more than 1 million people, supplying educational materials and free pizza at fire safety open houses.
