Bag sale

STARKS – The Helping Hands Thrift Store, a program of East Parish Housing Ministries, is having a bag sale prior to closing for the winter. Clothes are available for $3 a bag now through Saturday, Oct. 1. Helping Hands is located at the corner of Chicken Street.

Sunday worship

FARMINGTON – Henderson Memorial Baptist Church welcomes all people to worship at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.

On this Worldwide Communion Sunday, Pastor Susan Crane’s sermon will focus on the “Great Expectations” God has for his people. All are welcome at the communion table.

Scriptures include Isaiah 5:1-7 and Matthew 21: 33-46. The choir will sing “The Love of the Lord” by Joncas and worship will open with Robin Barron’s organ prelude, “The Heavens Are Telling the Glory of God” by Haydn. Worship includes a special story for children.

Children and adults are also invited to Sunday school at 9 a.m. with classes for all ages. Henderson is an American Baptist Church and is located on the corner of Academy and Main streets.

Blacksmithing

WILTON – The Western Maine Blacksmith’s Association will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, at the Wilton Historical Society. Visitors are welcome. For more information, call Bill Reid at 778-2325.

Trail riders

SALEM – The Mt. Abram Trail Riders ATV Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the library at Mt. Abram High School. The public is welcome.

Story hour

NEW SHARON – A story hour will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. the first and third Thursday of each month beginning Oct. 6 at the New Sharon Jim Ditzler Memorial Library. There will be stories, crafts and snacks. All children are welcome. For more information, call the library at 779-1128.

Plan bazaar

INDUSTRY – The Church of Christ Starks and West Mills Community Church are preparing for the annual Christmas bazaar to be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Industry Town Hall.

Donations of craft items are being accepted. Tables are available for rental. There will also be raffles, bake sales, cookie walk, craft items and hot food for lunch. For more information, call Ann Marie at 696-1064.

Wiltona speaker

WILTON – Wiltona Women’s Club will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Wilton Congregational Church. Sue Coyer, RN, Sandy River Nursing, will be the guest speaker. The topic will be “Health and Safety.” Hostesses will be Joyce Orff and Phyllis Adams.

Computer course

PHILLIPS – SAD 58 Adult and Community Education will offer a course in computers for any skill level beginning Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Phillips Middle School. Classes will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 13, 18, 20, 25 and 27. The instructor is Tom Piekart. Cost is $50 and preregistration is required prior to Monday, Oct. 7.
