PORTLAND (AP) – Arel Gordon scored two touchdowns, including a 57-yard punt return early in the third quarter, as Maine beat Albany 31-7 on Saturday night.

Montell Owens rushed for 100 yards in the first half and Ron Whitcomb threw two first-half touchdowns, one to Gordon, one to Kevin McMahan, to give Maine (2-2) a 24-0 lead by halftime.

Albany (0-4) didn’t record a first down until its first possession of the second half. The Great Danes got on the board with 7:48 to play on a 3-yard run by Marcus Allen.

The Black Bears’ special teams had two blocked punts to go with Gordon’s punt return.

Alex Goyins blocked one punt and recovered the other. Bobby Donnelly had a 35-yard field goal in the second quarter.

Wellington Talkpa scored Maine’s other touchdown, a 1-yard run with 19 seconds left in the first half.
