RUMFORD – Booths are still available for the Black Mountain of Maine Fitness Fair to be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in the lodge at Black Mountain. The deadline for signing up is Oct. 26, but organizations that sign up early will get publicity.

There will be exercise lessons, healthy food demonstrations, ski clinics and safety booths. Rumford Hospital Birthing Center nurses will hold a “Teddy Bear Clinic.” Children may bring their Teddy bears or other favorite stuffed animal for a “health checkup.”

The fair is free and open to the public. The exhibitor booth fee is $15. For information on how to exhibit, contact Patty Duguay at the River Valley Healthy Communities Coalition, 364-7408.

A Nordic Dryland Training Clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. that day with Deven Morrill, Zach Stegeman and U.S. National Biathlon Team members Haley Johnson and Anneliese Cook.

Two of the top junior coaches in Maine and two of Maine’s Olympic hopefuls will also be on hand to help with tips and techniques. This clinic is for youth ages 12 to 18. There is a $20 fee. For more information contact Stegeman at zach@fastsplits.com.

A pasta feed, spaghetti with meat or meatless sauce, salad, bread, beverage and dessert, will be served at 5 p.m. in the lodge. Tickets are $6 in advance and $7 at the door. Contact the Chamber of Commerce at 364-3241. Other advance ticket sales sites will be announced.
