LEWISTON – Sisters of Charity Health System, in partnership with the Red Cross, is sponsoring the Family Caregiving Program – classes designed to help individuals provide the best care possible for a loved one.

The nine-part series will help educate individuals on care-giving skills, including how to reduce stress; understanding legal, financial and medical issues; and balancing responsibilities.

Sessions will be held in the Club 50 room, across from St. Mary’s on Campus Avenue. Registration is required as space is limited. Call 753-5467 to register. Times are 6 to 7:30 p.m. The scheduled class dates and topics are:

Oct. 11: “Home Safety,” Susanne Veilleux, Medicine Shoppe.

Oct. 25: “Alzheimer’s/Dementia Caregiving,” to be determined.

Nov. 8: “Assisting with Personal Care,” Janet Robinson, CNA.

Nov. 22: “Healthy Eating,” Jennifer Williams.

Dec. 6: “Positioning and Movement,” Cheryl Dobblestyn.

Dec. 20: “General Caregiving,” Dr. Nedaa Skeik.

Jan. 3: “Legal and Financial Issues,” to be determined.

Jan. 17: “Caring for the Caregiver,” Deb Fournier.

Jan. 31: “HIV/AIDS,” to be determined.
