BOSTON (AP) – Defenseman Nick Boynton ended his monthlong holdout Thursday, signing a one-year deal with the Boston Bruins.

Boynton skipped training camp and was the Bruins’ lone unsigned player. In 2003-04, he played in the All-Star game for the first time in three NHL seasons.

“He is one of the best young defensemen in the game, is a leader in our dressing room and we expect that he will play a big part in our team’s success this season,” general manager Mike O’Connell said.

His best season offensively came in 2003-04 – six goals, 24 assists in 81 games. He has 17 goals and 55 assists in his career. Boynton was drafted by the Bruins in the first round in 1999.
