Free breakfast

OQUOSSOC – The annual Youth Deer Day in Maine will be held Saturday, Oct. 22. Youth between the ages of 10 and 16 who possess a junior hunting license can take one deer of either sex.

The Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsmen’s Club will offer free breakfasts to any licensed junior hunters participating in the hunt. Breakfast will be served from 4:30 to 10 a.m. at the clubhouse on Skiway Road. The breakfast is open to adults accompanying the youth hunters and to the general public for a donation of $6 a person.

The menu includes eggs, pancakes, home fries, various meats, toast, coffee, milk and juices. There are signs for the club and Skiway Road, which is located just west of the Oquossoc Post Office, on Route 4. For more information, call Mac Dudley at 864-5919.

Harvest dinner

STRONG – A harvest dinner to support Hurricane Katrina victims will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Strong United Methodist Church. The meal is being sponsored by the church’s Sunday school.

The dinner includes ham and corned beef with vegetables, homemade bread or rolls and pies for dessert.

Meal prices are $6 for adults or $3 with a donation; $3 for children or $2 with a donation; and for a family, $20, or $15 with a donation. Donations are a new blanket or the United Methodist Committee on Relief School kits.

Christian group

STARKS – A Christian support group for mothers of young children will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Sundays at the Church of Christ. The group will begin in November and registration is required. Call Ann Marie at 696-1064 to register or for more information.

Community meal

FARMINGTON – The community luncheons at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church will restart for the fall with a meal from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the church, corner of Academy and Main streets. The meals are offered free.

The menu includes corned beef and cabbage, potato, carrots, biscuits and apple bars. All are welcome. For more information, call the church at 778-2163 or Dot Bryant at 778-4608.

DAR speaker

FARMINGTON – The Colonial Daughters Chapter, DAR, will hear Debbie Trask, former community executive for cancer control, at a meeting to be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the chapel at the Old South Congregational Church. Trask will give a presentation on skin health and sun safety. Members are invited to bring a guest. Light refreshments will be served.
