Fall sale

WEST PARIS – The annual fall sale at the West Paris Universalist Church, Main Street, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22. Handmade crafts, white elephant items and food will be offered. A table of handmade and hand-dipped chocolates will again be available.

The annual chicken pie supper to be held in November is celebrating its 99th year and the annual sales probably began at about the same time.

Worship leader

PARIS – The worship leader at the First Universalist Church of South Paris at 10 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, will be Dr. Art Judge.

Judge’s sermon topic will be “What Can We Learn from the Swallows.” Judge is a member of Kings Chapel, Boston, and an active member of the New Massachusetts Universalist Convention.

The music will be by the choir and Renee Wales, flutist. Forest Perkins will be the organist and Renee Wales will lead the Sunday school. Child care is provided. The coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. Everyone is welcome.

Concert set

PARIS – The annual Pops Concert will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris,

The program will include favorite melodies sung by Jeannie Byers, Jeannie Whittemore, Berdina Whittemore and Terry Twitchell. Forest Perkins will be at the organ with Renee Wales, flutist.

The Ladies of Good Cheer will provide refreshments in Good Cheer Hall following the program.

Annual meeting

OTISFIELD – The Elmwood Cemetery Association will hold its annual meeting at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, at the East Otisfield Free Baptist Church, Rayville Road. All are welcome.

Book group

WATERFORD – The Waterford Library book group meets in the library at 10:30 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday of each month. The public is invited.

The books selected for upcoming meetings are “Sense and Sensibility” by Jane Austen in October; “The Pine Barrens” by John McPhee in November; and “Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage” by Alice Munro in December.

For more information, call the library at 583-2050. It is open to all residents of Waterford. Hours are Mondays 2 to 6 p.m., Wednesdays 3 to 8 p.m., Fridays 10 a.m. to noon and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Annual auction

CASCO – The Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce will hold its fourth annual live and silent auction on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Point Sebago Resort.

The doors will open at 6 p.m. for the silent auction and buffet-style dinner. The live auction will begin at 8.

The evening will feature a “Taste of the Towns” with an assortment of appetizers, entrees and sweets provided by local restaurants and food services.

The live auction items include a kayak, trips to Foxwoods and New Hampshire’s Town and Country Inn, local cruises and boat rentals, local food and lodging packages, patio furniture and art.

Proceeds will benefit the local area business programs, tourism and scholarships. Tickets are available online at www.sebagolakeschamber.com or by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 892-8265.

Admission is $25 a person for Chamber members; $30, general public.

Tickets will also be available at the door.
