TURNER – Town residents are being asked to get directly involved in the selection of a site for a new town office.
Members of the Town Office Building Committee are asking people with knowledge of a suitable 3- to 5-acre site to call the Town Office with their suggestions. The site should be readily accessible, able to accommodate a sizable parking lot and have room for future growth.
Town Manager James Catlin said he hopes to receive a sizable number of suggestions from residents by Nov. 30. The committee would then reduce the list to three or four finalists. A poll of the community will be conducted about those sites, he said.
The public is invited to the committee’s Dec. 13 meeting to provide further input into the site selection.
Catlin said town meetings have been setting aside funds each year for a new town office. That fund now is about $300,000, sufficient for the town to get moving on the project. He said it is possible the office could remain where it is, at the intersection of Routes 4 and 117.
