PORTLAND (AP) – Nathan Marsters lost a shutout in the last minute, but the Portland Pirates held on for their third straight victory by beating the Lowell Lock Monsters 3-1 on Sunday.

Zenon Konopka scored the game-winning goal and Dustin Penner collected a pair of assists for Portland.

After a scoreless first period, the Pirates (4-2-0-0) took a 1-0 lead when Joel Stepp skated down the left boards and drilled a slapshot past Vitaly Kolesnik 15:28 into the second period.

Konopka scored at 5:38 in the third period to push the lead to 2-0, but Lowell (2-3-0-0) cut the deficit to one when Brad Richardson beat Marsters on the power play from outside the right circle at 19:11.

Aaron Gavey scored an insurance goal with 36 seconds left.

Marsters, playing in his first AHL season, improved his record to 3-0.

Kolesnik made 34 saves in the loss.
