LITCHFIELD – Litchfield Modern Woodmen of America Youth Service Club members have joined Modern Woodmen clubs across the country to collect approximately 7,500 coloring books, crayons and storybooks for kids relocated by the destruction of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. The items were shipped to Modern Woodmen’s agency office in Alexandria, La.
“As a fraternal organization, the concept of people helping people is what Modern Woodmen is all about,” said Modern Woodmen club leaders Elley Merrifield and Betty MacWhinnie. “Our club members have jumped at the chance to help kids who in many cases have lost everything. We hope the books and crayons will bring a little fun and distraction to a very difficult time.”
Modern Woodmen youth clubs and camps (member chapters) will conduct special fund-raisers and volunteer projects for hurricane victims.
