Seniors meeting

AUBURN – The First Auburn Senior Citizens will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Hasty Community Center. The board of directors will meet at 10.

Members should bring their bag lunch and cup. Bingo will be played after lunch. Tickets will be on sale for $6 for the Thanksgiving dinner at Martindale on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

The club met Oct. 19 with 82 present. Guests Joan and Ken Kimball were introduced. The Halloween luncheon was served, and bingo was played after lunch. Attendance winners were Blanche Welch and Judy Holbrook; pot of gold winners, Donald Martin, Nancy Roy and Felix Yurkston.

Quilt is topic

MONMOUTH – Helen Neff of Winthrop will speak about her recently completed “Freedom Quilt,” based on the designs used by safe houses along the Underground Railway, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Cumston Library.

Neff will explain how she became interested in the subject, how she researched it and will tell some of the stories of those who helped and those who were aided in their run for freedom. The quilt will be on display.

Church speaker

LEWISTON – Pastor Paul Bernard will discuss the mystery of the Bible prophecies at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 6, at the Good News Chapel, 2151 Lisbon Road. Everyone is welcome.

Bridge winners

LEWISTON – The Lewiston-Auburn Duplicate Bridge Club met on Oct. 25 at the Multi-Purpose Center. A partial Gold Point Swiss Team Event was held and the winners were: first, David Lock, Patricia Garcia, Jeanine Kivus and Martine Begert; second, Leslie Buzzell, Nancy Lindgren, Anna Vitiello and Lucille Theriault.

Another game will be played at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at the center.

The club also met on Oct. 26 at Schooner Estates in Auburn. Flight A winners were: first, Leslie Buzzell and Misha Tomic; second, David Lock and Lucille Theriault; third, John Hackett and Ray Sirois. Flight B winners were Alberta Turner and Lucille Bilodeau.

These two games will be directed by Rosemarie Goodwin until April. A partner is guaranteed at either game.
