UMF craft show
FARMINGTON – The University of Maine at Farmington will hold its annual Arts and Crafts Show from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in the Olsen Student Center, UMF campus.
More than 30 artists and crafters from across Maine are expected to turn out for the show. All items for sale are handmade/homemade by the artists. They include quilted clothing and handbags, jewelry, handpainted wood and jars, baskets, original paintings and prints of watercolors, pastels and oils, photographs, wreaths, handknitted items, porcelain dolls, metal dcor, greeting cards, pottery, handspun yarn and country crafts.

Breakfast set
TEMPLE – A hunters breakfast will begin at 5 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at Temple Town Hall. The meal is sponsored by Temple Trail Riders ATV group.
Early bird sale
FARMINGTON – The annual Downtown Early Bird Sale will begin at 6 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, in downtown Farmington. The annual event is the official kickoff to the holiday shopping season. Many stores will offer discounts for early shoppers and those who shop in pajamas may save even more at some locations. The event is sponsored by the Downtown Business and Professional Association.
Benefit supper
STRONG – A benefit turkey supper will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Strong United Methodist Parish Hall for Bea Milewski, who is fighting cancer. For more information, call 684-5621 or 684-3074.
Harvest supper
FARMINGTON – The Old South Church, Main Street, will hold its annual harvest supper starting at 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5.
The public supper will feature roast turkey and ham with all the fixings, including beverages and homemade pies. Cost is adults, $7 and children, $4.
All proceeds will benefit the Pilgrim Lodge Campership Fund for children and youth. Since 1983 proceeds from the supper have provided more than 190 youth scholarships to Pilgrim Lodge Camp.
Country music
SALEM – A&E Hill country music will return to Salem Community Building at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6. Bluegrass/country music will be featured. A donation box will be set up at the door.
Club dinner
PHILLIPS – North Franklin Snowmobile Club will sponsor a prime rib or pork dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Phillips Middle School, Blake Hill Road.
The prime rib dinner for $14 and the pork dinner for $12 include veggie, potatoes, roll, homemade dessert and beverage. For more information, contact Camellia Smith at 639-2552.
Church supper
WILTON – A public supper will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the First Apostolic Church. Baked beans, casseroles, salads, hot dogs and a variety of desserts will be offered for $5 adults and $3 children. The meal will benefit the building fund.
Take-out meal
NEW SHARON – The monthly family baked bean take-out meal will be held at New Sharon Congregational United Church of Christ between 10 and noon Saturday, Nov. 5. It includes a quart of baked beans, a pint of coleslaw, yeast rolls or brown bread and a family size homemade pie for $12. To reserve meals, call Mary at 778-2366.
Monday Club
FARMINGTON – The Monday Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, at the home of University of Maine at Farmington President Theo Kalikow, 204 Lake Ave.
Since it is the club’s annual membership tea, members may consider inviting guests. Following refreshments, Judy Loven will speak on “Wolves, A Keeper’s Perspective.”
Hostesses are Marilyn Woodman and Mary Lovejoy.
Holiday dance
FARMINGTON – Mt. Blue High School Jazz Band will host the Al Corey Big Band for a Veterans Day Dance to be held from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Mt. Blue High School gym.
After the dance at 7 p.m. there will be a dance clinic held by Gary Smith. The idea of the evening is continuous music, so the high school jazz band will perform when the Al Corey Band is taking a break. At the end of the evening the two bands will combine for a set.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets are available at Mickey’s Hallmark. This is a fund-raiser for the high school jazz band, which is not funded by the school budget. Formal and semi-formal attire is welcome. Refreshments will be sold.
