AUBURN – Temple Shalom Nursery School is opening its doors to a younger crowd starting Jan. 1.

Children who turn 3 on or before Jan. 1 can enroll in the Tuesday/Thursday program at the nursery school, as along as the child is toilet-trained.

In the past, Temple Shalom followed the state guideline of Oct. 15 as a cutoff for accepting children into the program.

“We found this guideline too restrictive, however,” said Claudette Turcotte, a long-time teacher at Temple Shalom Nursery School. “We find that there are many children who end up being unable to have the nursery school experience at a time that would be most beneficial to them. We are very proud to be expanding our program to include this younger crowd so that they can enjoy the richness of what we have to offer.”

Time for the Tuesday/Thursday program is from 9 a.m. to noon. A social skills-based nursery school, Temple Shalom is state-licensed and open to children of all faiths. For more information about the expanded program, call the school at 786-4201.
