SOUTH PARIS – Oxford County Sheriff Lloyd “Skip” Herrick announced the following promotions Thursday:
• Timothy Ontengco, a 12-year veteran of the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office, was promoted from corporal to sergeant.
Ontengco is a field training officer, member of the sheriff’s office color guard and ethics instructor.
Ontengco has received many citations and awards during his career, including Deputy of The Year in 1998.
He lives in Brownfield with his wife, Julie, and their two children.
• Matthew Baker also has worked for the sheriff’s office for 12 years was promoted from corporal to sergeant. Baker is a certified instructor in the Drug Abuse Resistance Education, or DARE, program.
He also is the department’s firearms instructor.
Baker is a decorated officer, having received the President’s Award of Valor from the Maine Sheriff’s Association and the Superintendents Commendation from the Massachusetts State Police.
He lives in Stow with his wife, Cheryl, and their two children.
• Patrolman Chancey Libby, a 7-year veteran of the sheriff’s office, was promoted to corporal.
Libby is a certified instructor and field training officer. His accomplishments include an award by the New England Narcotic Enforcement Officer’s Association for his work in drug enforcement and was also named 2004 Deputy of The Year by the Maine Sheriff’s Association in 2004.
Libby, in addition to his other duties, is the Oxford County drug coordinator for eradication.
He has an outstanding record for investigating serious drug violations, according to Herrick.
He lives in Mexico.
They took effect on Oct. 1.
