MEXICO – The Mountain Valley Middle School Team 1 went to the Fryeburg Fair on Oct. 5, and they were given an activity booklet to complete.

Their first project was to find out the odometer reading on the bus, then get the actual mileage when they arrived. The team visited the fair museum to see old-time farm machinery, the commercial exhibits for modern-day versions, then the Bryant Pond Phone Co. for a few questions.

Section D in the booklet included a visit to the agricultural expo buildings to see the prize-winning fruits, vegetables, baked good and handmade crafts and the forestry resource center for companies that operate in Maine.

The team answered questions on the show and draft horse barn, the llama barn and fiber tent, oxen, sheep, cows and family farms. They also had to spend time walking around the midway looking at the rides.
