NEW YORK – Jaromir Jagr snapped a third-period tie with his 19th goal, and the New York Rangers beat Boston 3-2 Sunday night, sending the Bruins to their sixth straight loss.

It is the first time the Bruins (7-10-5) have dropped six in a row since Feb. 11-23, 1997. Boston has led or been tied in the third period in five of the losses. Jagr, who also assisted on goals by Petr Prucha and Ville Nieminen, snapped in a shot from the right circle at 6:16. His 556th career goal moved him into a tie with John Bucyk for 18th place on the NHL list. Jagr had three assists against Carolina on Saturday for the Rangers, who have won seven of 10.

Jagr has 35 points in 23 games.

Canucks 3, Ducks 2

ANAHEIM, Calif. – Sami Salo scored his second goal of the game with 7:48 left to help the Vancouver Canucks hand the Anaheim Mighty Ducks’ their record-tying eighth straight loss, 3-2.

Lightning 5, Carolina 2

RALEIGH, N.C. – Fredrik Modin had a goal and two assists to lead the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 5-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes .

Vincent Lecavalier and Brad Richards each added a goal and an assist for the Lightning, who have won three of their past four games.

Coyotes 5, Blue Jackets 1

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Ladislav Nagy had a goal and two assists, and David LeNeveu made 23 saves to help the Phoenix Coyotes beat Columbus 5-1, extending the Blue Jackets’ losing streak to five.

Mike Johnson scored his second goal in three games and Zbynek Michalek, Boyd Devereaux and former Blue Jackets forward Geoff Sanderson also scored for the Coyotes, who won for the third time in four games.
