ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) – Aaron Voros set up one goal and scored the game-winner late in the second period Friday night to lead the Albany River Rats to a 3-2 victory over the Portland Pirates.

David Clarkson had a goal and an assist. Goalie Frank Doyle finished with 43 saves as the Rats (7-13-0-2) were outshot 45-25. Clarkson’s power-play goal 4:18 into the game gave Albany to a 1-0 lead, but Corey Perry answered for Portland (15-6-1-0) at 13:48. The Rats went ahead 2-1 when Barry Tallackson’s centering pass glanced in off the right skate of Pirates defenseman Shane O’Brien at at 6:30 of the second period.

Curtis Glencross banged in a rebound exactly two minutes later with Portland skating on a two-man advantage. Voros skated up the right wing and lifted a backhand shot up under the crossbar with 2:33 left in the second for the decisive goal. Nathan Marsters stopped 22 shots for Portland.
