LEWISTON – The U.S. Postal Service is teaming up with the University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn College to host a Passport Day, making it easy for anyone to obtain a U.S. passport.
Students and the public may attend the event at the college to apply for a U.S. passport or to have a passport photo taken. Applications will be available at the event, or interested applicants may pick up a passport application ahead of time at the Lewiston Post Office and bring it to the event, then have their photo taken and turn in the paperwork.
Along with the passport application, people must bring a certified copy of their birth certificate (or previous passport for submission) along with a photo ID.
Passport Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, in the main lobby near the south entrance of USM’s Lewiston-Auburn College, 51 Westminster St.
The Lewiston Post Office staff will assist in filling out applications and will take passport photos. For more information, visit the college Web site at www.usm.maine.edu/lac.
