LEWISTON – A pair of jet skis and a trailer were recovered in Jay on Monday two months after they were stolen from a home in Sabattus.

Jay police working with a detective from Lewiston tracked down the stolen watercraft and trailer Monday afternoon at a home on Walker Hill Road. The equipment was valued at more than $10,000.

In Lewiston, police Detective Lee Jones received information that the stolen items had been taken to Jay. He forwarded that tip to Jay police Sgt. Charles Keene.

Keene then went to the home and spoke with the property owner. The sergeant was then shown the watercraft and trailer that was housed inside a garage. Police said identification and registration numbers revealed that the items were the same that were stolen from Sabattus.

The homeowner on Walker Hill Road told police how he had come into possession of the machines. Police were still investigating the case Tuesday and still searching for the thieves.

The stolen items were: two Sea-Doo personal watercraft valued at $4,500 each and a Yacht Club Trailer valued at $1,800.
