LISBON – The Lisbon Rotary Club sponsored the 19th annual community Thanksgiving dinner on Nov. 24 at Lisbon High School. Originating in 1986, the dinner is intended for anyone who would like to be with others for a Thanksgiving meal. Home deliveries are provided by club members and volunteers for those in need.

Doors opened at 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day with hors d’oeuvres. Entertainment was provided by Dick Waters and his band, Just Friends. Boutonnieres were provided and all guests were eligible for a door prize of a fruit basket donated by Project Chairwoman Ora Madden.

Tables were decorated with centerpieces made by Claire Mitchell of Brunswick. Centerpieces and crafts made by Eva Croteau of Lisbon were donated for drawings.

Chefs for the day were Nancy Couture, culinary arts instructor at Central Maine Community College, Pat Roy (a former student), Marilyn Roy and Steve Cushman.

A Thanksgiving dinner was prepared with all the fixings, including homemade pies donated by local residents and collected by Rotarian, Dick Gould. Community volunteer Arlette Anderson Robitaille prepared and donated homemade breads and sugar-free desserts.

Invocation was done by the Rev. Lionel Chouinard of Holy Trinity Church. Lisbon Rotary President John Poulin served as master of ceremonies.

Volunteers assisted with the preparation, home deliveries and serving. The Lisbon High School Interact Club set up tables, decorated and served guests. Boy Scout Troop 109 and their leaders assisted with serving, deliveries and clean-up.

Transportation to the dinner, if needed, was provided by Nancy Fournier of Lisbon Falls. Lisbon Community School Coordinator Monica Millhime, her family and friends assisted throughout the day with set-up, delivery and serving.

This is the biggest project of the year for Lisbon Rotary.
