MEXICO – Region 9 Learning Center will hold a chemistry class in January. The class will involve a review of basic scientific principles, including phases of matter, scientific notation and elements. It will lead into chemical terminology and inquiries, which will be investigated in the lab.

The class will run for 15 weeks and students will earn one high school credit. Tuition is $180; the location will be determined at a later date. The instructor will be Denise Kidder, RN. Call Region 9 Learning Center at 364-2012 to register.

The center will hold a phlebotomy class from Jan. 27 to April 28. Phlebotomists are in demand in hospitals, clinics and home care situations.

Participants will learn the necessary information and techniques of drawing blood. Instructor Katherine Martin will guide students through the 14-week class, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Region 9 Learning Center, 377 River Rd., Mexico. The fee is $350 and the book costs $50.
