AUBURN – The second year of the Auburn-Lewiston Rotary Breakfast Club’s Trip-of-the-Month Raffle is under way. Nearly 300 tickets were sold to residents, who each invested $150 in the community service work of the club.

Last year the program netted nearly $17,000, which was donated to local nonprofit organizations ranging from Advocates for Children to Volunteers of America.

The first drawing for the 2006 winners was held on Dec. 7; drawings will be held on the first Wednesday of each month. The December winner was Daniel Herrick, d/b/a DJR Construction of Auburn, who won a trip to Key West, Fla.

The raffle is in its second year in the Lewiston-Auburn area. Each year the club will sell up to 350 raffle tickets. Each month the club will draw three tickets. The first prize will be a trip to one of a dozen vacation destinations, arranged by Dube Travel Services of Lewiston.

Holders of the second and third tickets draw will receive the purchase price of their ticket. All winners will be entered into the remaining drawings for the year.

Tickets for the 2007 Trip-of-the-Month raffle will be on sale starting in September.

The Breakfast Club provides more than $30,000 a year in grants to local and international charities with funds raised through the Trip-of-the-Month raffle, its annual golf tournament in June and the Great Duck Race in August.
