BATH – Lewiston resident Madeliene Beaulieu was honored recently at AARP Maine’s annual volunteer recognition awards ceremony and luncheon. The ceremony, held at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath, recognizes AARP volunteers and their community partners for exceptional service to older Mainers throughout the year.

Beaulieu has been an active member of the AARP Androscoggin Chapter, helping publicize chapter community activities, and has acted as the treasurer for eight years. She is a retired math teacher, on the job for 36 years.

Beaulieu is a member of several senior groups, including the Lewiston Seniors, where she is treasurer as well as tour organizer. She donates her time and financial expertise by assisting seniors with sorting out their financial problems.

AARP Maine honored 51 volunteers this year. Awards were given for work on AARP strategic issues, service to the community, noteworthy projects for AARP’s consumer initiatives and all-around excellence of service.

“AARP’s work would not be possible without the dedication and vigilance of volunteers,” said AARP Maine State Director Jud Dolphin.
