AUBURN – Michael Cuddy, marketing manager for Wild Oats Markets Inc., 87 Marginal Way, Portland, recently visited Good Shepherd Food-Bank’s Auburn facility. In support of the food-bank’s mission and increased needs this winter, Wild Oats will sponsor a food/fund drive, the Grab ‘n Give/ Bag Hunger Program, to benefit the food bank.

Grab ‘n Give grocery bags are filled with discounted nonperishable staple food items such as canned tuna, soup, vegetables and beans, rice, canned fruit and cereal and are available for customers to purchase at the check stand.

Customers can choose from a $10, $15, $20, $25 or $30 bag of groceries. They can drop off the grocery bag in the collection area at the front of the store or take the bag of groceries home with them to donate to their organization of choice. All grocery bags collected at Wild Oats will be donated to local food banks.

Wild Oats Markets was founded in Boulder, Colo., in 1987 on the vision of enhancing the lives of customers by providing products and education that support health and well being.

The mission of Good Shepherd Food-Bank is to provide food for those at risk of hunger by soliciting surplus and donated foods and distributing it to nonprofit programs throughout Maine.

Agencies include soup kitchens, food pantries, homeless shelters, recovery and abuse centers, group homes, foster homes and groups that serve children and the elderly.
