NEW YORK (AP) – A 3-month-old girl out with her mother on New Year’s Day died after becoming unconscious aboard a Manhattan subway train, police said.

The baby, Miracle Diaz, was with her 27-year-old mother when she apparently lost consciousness aboard a No. 1 train near the Columbus Circle station shortly after midnight, police spokesman Detective John Sweeney said.

She was taken to Roosevelt Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The cause of death was under investigation.
