AARP meeting
PARIS – The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP executive board members will meet at the home of Betty Hayes at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9, to plan programs for 2006. Those who have ideas for speakers or programs should notify board members. There will be no regular AARP meeting in January.
Clear sidewalks
OXFORD – The Postal Service is asking residents to help assure that rural carriers are able to deliver mail safely and efficiently.
Rural or curbside mailboxes should be kept clear of snow or other obstructions so a carrier can pull up adjacent to a mailbox and make a delivery without exiting his or her vehicle.
Snow and ice on sidewalks and steps need to be cleared where carriers walk. Postal Service officials said carriers are not required to risk personal injury from observable hazards to deliver the mail.
