SALEM – Central Maine Community College course offerings in Franklin County have been expanded for the spring semester.

Courses at Mt. Abram will include Business Math, College Algebra, College Writing, Technical Writing, Developmental Psychology, Introduction to Education and 2D Design.

The Adult Learning Center in Farmington and Mt. Blue High School will host Central Maine Community College courses in business, sociology and computer applications as well as English, math and psychology.

The courses were selected because they transfer in the University of Maine system and they are required for many degree programs. Registration began Dec. 1, and classes begin the week of Jan. 17.

The establishment of community college satellite sites in Franklin County is being developed through a partnership between Central Maine Community College and Franklin County schools, businesses and economic development organizations.

SAD 58 Adult and Community Education Director Gary Perlson said, “Our hope is that by offering affordable college courses at local sites, more area residents will be able to attain the education and training needed for skilled employment.”

A tutorial service is available and qualified high school students can receive reduced tuition as part of a program called “Step Ahead.”
