Sunday service

FARMINGTON – Morning worship at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 15. The Rev. Susan Crane will share a message and lead worship. Dan Woodward will direct the church choir and Crystal Poulin will lead the praise music. Robin Barron serves as organist.

All are welcome. Sunday school classes for all ages, 3 to 103, are offered at 9 a.m. and the service is followed by a time of fellowship at 11:30 a.m.

Legion supper

LIVERMORE FALLS – A pork loin supper will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at the George Bunten Post 10, American Legion. The cost is $6 a person. Takeout meals can be delivered by calling 897-5676.

Special speaker

JAY – The next neighborhood watch meeting for Jay and Livermore Falls will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Community Building. This month, Jay and Livermore Falls are combining their groups for a special presentation.

Fred Jordan of the state Medical Examiner’s Office will speak.

He will explain the role of a medical examiner and go over interesting cases. Jordan was also a medical examiner in Oklahoma City when the Federal Building was bombed. He will speak about that experience, as well.

Cheering contest

JAY – The 19th annual Mountain Valley Conference Cheering Championship will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, at Jay High School. Teams from Boothbay, Monmouth Academy, Lisbon, Winthrop, Livermore Falls, Mountain Valley, Dirigo, Jay and Carrabec will compete.

Gates will open at 8:30 a.m. and competition will start at 11. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students.

Library dinner

RANGELEY – The Rangeley Public Library will hold its annual spaghetti dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

Emblem dance

FARMINGTON – Tickets for the Farmington Emblem Club’s Valentine Dance are available.

The dance will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Farmington Elks Lodge. The dance will be preceded with a supper from 6 to 7 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Legends.
