OES meeting

LISBON FALLS – Pioneer Chapter 11, Order of the Eastern Star, will honor 25- and 50-year members at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Lisbon Falls Masonic Hall.

A special monetary collection benefiting cancer research will be taken. Refreshments will be served following the meeting.

All members of the order are invited.

Randall to speak

AUBURN – The Auburn Art Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at the High Street Congregational Church.

Barbara V. Randall will present “Flowers and Children Around the World.” Randall is noted for her speaking engagements in the area on a variety of subjects and travelogues.

Serving on the program committee with Margaret Savignano as chairwoman are Janet Nelson, Libby Reichard and Martha Preble.

Navigation course

AUBURN – A coastal navigation course will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. for 12 weeks, starting Jan. 26, at Edward Little High School.

Mariners can learn to navigate the Maine coast safely with its fog and numerous under water hazards. The course includes chart reading, dead reckoning, plotting, tides and currents, bearings, essential navigation rules and instruction utilizing a GPS if desired.

Breakfast set

AUBURN – Modern Woodmen of America Camp 8794 will sponsor a breakfast and Modern Woodmen members and family are invited. The breakfast will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at Roy’s Allsteak Hamburger, Washington Street.

The cost to attend is $2 a person. A drawing will be held for a family door prize.

Tickets must be purchased at Modern Woodmen of America, 67 Minot Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Call 783-8804 for details.
