TURNER – SAD 52 Adult and Community Education has announced three classes beginning Monday, Jan. 23, that could put participants on the road to a new career. All are offered by Transcription Associates Inc. and will be available at the Adult Learning Center.

All lectures are provided on audio CD. Participants will e-mail work and questions to the instructor and quizzes will be done via e-mail attachments. There is a two-hour lecture once a week.

Pharmacy technician

Learn the aspects of the job of a pharmacy technician in the 12-week online/classroom self-paced program. After completion of the program, participants will be ready to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board exam.

Medical transcription

Medical Transcription is a 16-week course beginning Tuesday, Jan. 24. Participants must have strong typing and computer skills as well as strong English grammar skills. Topics will include medical terminology, formats, rules and regulations, jobs and how to get them. It is a state certified program and participants will receive a certificate of completion and letter of recommendation upon graduation. All equipment, reference books and course books are provided with the course fee.

Medical billing

Medical Billing and Coding is an in-depth 16-week program beginning Thursday, Jan. 26. The program is taught by a certified medical biller. Upon graduation of the state-certified course, participants will be provided with job placement and resume writing assistance.

Residents of Greene, Leeds and Turner will receive the winter/spring 2006 booklet in the mail. For information on the classes, call the Adult Ed office at 225-3478.
