LISBON – Midtown Shopping Center, Food City Plaza, the downtown Main Street business district and countless private homes were without power for about 40 minutes Thursday morning. Traffic lights at several major intersections were also out.

Reports of the outage started coming in to the Police Department shortly after 10 a.m. The outage extended from the Subway restaurant through to the Bowdoinham Road not far from the Sabattus town line, Lisbon Police Officer Shawn Kelly said.

Although the exact cause was not immediately known, a spokesman from the Central Maine Power Co. office in Augusta said it was no doubt storm-related. There were unconfirmed reports that a CMP repair truck had been working in the area at the time of the outage.
