The Gathering’

AUBURN – Court Street Baptist Church invites families with kids, ages 6 to 17, to a Wednesday evening program, “The Gathering.”

Supper is held from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Kathy Haley at the piano leads group singing, followed by testimony time. At 6:40, ages 6 to 12 work on “The Music Machine” with Marge Perkins and Marion Holmes.

Those over 12 have craft and study projects with Lorna Hanson. Myron Eames leads the adult prayer meeting until 7:30. Adult choir members have rehearsal from 7:30 to 8:45.

“The Music Machine” is a contraption which makes a song out of everything that is placed in it. The program with audience participation will be held in April.

If a child is interested in the musical program, parents should call Andrea Johnston during daytime hours at 784-6661 or Marge Perkins at 795-0920 during the evening.

Corps meeting

AUBURN – The Central Maine Detachment, Marine Corps League will have a special reorganizational meeting and election of officer at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at American Legion Post 153, New Auburn, Cook Street entrance.

All members are asked to attend and all Maine veterans and U.S. Navy Corpsmen veteran who served with Marine units are invited. For more information, call Roland C. Cyr at 782-3057.

Supports firemen

AUBURN – In an effort to support local fire departments, Papa Gino’s of Auburn has been part of a company-wide promotion where free pizzas are donated for open houses and fire safety demonstrations.

In 2005, Papa Gino’s donated more than 7,000 pizzas to 135 open houses across the region. The program has been in existence since 1993.

Lisa Davis of Papa Gino’s at the Auburn Mall said, “No one deserves our support more than our fire departments, and this is a great way for us to help.”

Papa Gino’s provides press and educational materials that fire stations can use during their school outreach programs.

They also provide pizza during the stations’ open house events as well as fire hats for the children who visit.
