Demo speaker

MEXICO – Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap will be the speaker at the meeting of the River Valley and Oxford County Democrats on Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Mexico Town Hall.

Dunlap will discuss and entertain questions on all aspects of elections. Prior to the meeting, there will be caucus convenor training at 4 p.m., conducted by Maine Democratic Party Vice Chairwoman Marianne Stevens, and a potluck supper at 5:30. The meeting is open to all interested in electing Democrats. Rep. John Patrick will be the meeting host.

Sweetheart Dance

CANTON – A Sweetheart Dance will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at the Old Fire Hall. Storm date will be Saturday, Feb. 11.

Entertainment will be provided by Country Jim Palmer and his singing partner, Lolalee, along Dell Parker, Jim Guilmette, Lillian Wright, Off the Hill Band, Don Thibodeau, Patrick Libby and Mary Pepin.

The dance is a fundraiser for Palmer and Lolalee to help defray travel expenses to Tennessee, where they will represent the state and the Down East Country Music Association.

There will be refreshments on sale along with a 50/50 drawing, raffles and door prizes. Admission will be $6 a person. For more information, call Jim P. at 924-7111 or Lolalee at 674-2571.
