RUMFORD – Planning for the fourth annual River Valley Expo begins on Feb. 15 when those interested in offering ideas or volunteering will meet at the River Valley Technology Center at 5:30 p.m.
The two-day event, tentatively scheduled for Sept. 29 and Sept. 30 at Mountain Valley High School, generally draws about 3,000 people from throughout the region, as well as from around the state and New England. About 100 businesses, organizations, municipalities and individuals set up exhibits displaying the many products and services available throughout the 10-town area.
“The event benefits not only the businesses in the region, but also educates the community on the availability of products and service in their area,” said Rebecca Rotford, director of the River Valley Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber and the River Valley Growth Council co-sponsor the annual event.
The two-day event includes a Friday night for business-to-business networking, then an all-day Saturday when the public in invited to chat with exhibitors and pick up freebies from some of the more than 100 displays. Childcare will be available.
Rotford said volunteers are needed to help during the event with such things as security, parking, and water and lunch delivery.
Volunteers are also needed to help with the planning to offer new ideas for the event.
She said the time commitment includes a monthly meeting, followed by more frequent meetings as the date draws closer to the expo.
Volunteers do not have to be chamber or council members to participate.
