Brookline, MASS. – Drew Cohen finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, six blocked shots and three assists in leading Colby College to a 60-51 win over Newbury College Tuesday night.

Nick Farrell added 17 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and five steals for Colby (11-13), which shot 52 percent in the second half. Jon Bandi chipped in with 11 points.

The Newbury (7-15) effort was paced by Arch Mitchell who downed a game-high 21 points.

UMass Boston 72, Southern Maine 67

GORHAM – Tony Barros scored a game-high 29 points to lead the UMass Boston Beacons past an upset minded University of Southern Maine 72-67 Tuesday.

Barros knocked down 10 of his 25 points en route to the game-high 29 points, including a 5-for-14 effort from the three point range. Mark Doran netted 19 points for the Beacons (15-9) on 7-for-12 shooting.

Bill Hardwick scored 22 points while Andy Frost chipped in with nine points, four assists, and two steals for the Huskies (10-14). Foster Oakley and Charlie O’Neill added eight points each.

UMaine Farmington 66, Maine Maritime 52

CASTINE – Travis Carrier led the University of Farmington with 20 points and 13 rebounds to a 66-52 win over the Maine Maritime Academy Tuesday evening.

Sean Fry added 16 points and 11 boards as the Beavers upped their season record to 10-13. Travis Magnussion added 14 points.

The Mariners (8-14) got 14 points from both Neil Stewart and BJ Dunlap. Aaron McCarley added 11 points in the losing effort.

Womens’ Basketball

Maine Maritime 65, UMaine Farmington 60

CASTINE – The Maine Maritime Academy womens’ basketball team took a 65-60 win over the University of Maine in Farmington Tuesday.

Julia Knights scored 18 points, and went 8-for-9 from the free-throw line for the Mariners (20-3). She added three blocks and 10 rebounds, while Alyssa Burns added 16 points and eight boards.

Kari Simpson contributed 19 points, 13 rebounds, and five steals in the Beavers (19-4) losing effort, while Melissa Saywer added 18 points.
