Club outing

LIVERMORE – The Mexico Mothers Club will meet at noon Thursday, Feb. 23, at the Carriage House, Route 4. There will be a celebration of the anniversary of the club.

Comedy program

NEWRY – The Black Diamond Family Entertainment Series will present Mike Miclon, Comedy on Purpose, at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at North and South Ballroom, Grand Summit Resort Hotel, Sunday River Ski Resort. Cost for advance tickets is $4 for children ages 6 to 12 and $6 for adults; or $6 for children ages 6 to 12 or $8 for adults at the door. For more information call 824-3575.

Trip openings

MEXICO – There is still space available for the bus trip on Sunday, March 5, to Hollywood Slots in Bangor. It will leave Wal-Mart parking lot at 9:30 a.m. and return from Bangor at 6 p.m. Cost is $25 a person. Anyone interested may call 562-7550 or 364-3333.

Elks auction

RUMFORD – The Rumford Elks Lodge 862 will hold an auction from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26, to benefit the Elks National Foundation. The foundation helps sponsor the hoop shoot, soccer shoot and drug awareness programs for local students and the scholarship program for area seniors

There will be a food table, chairs, padded benches, ashtray stands, color TV with DVD, pink Energizer bunny, an exerciser swing glidder machine, an old safe, pictures and small loveseat.

There will also be a table where people can make an offer for the items. If anyone has items to donate or for more information, call Sandee Welch at 364-2548.

Meeting change

MEXICO – The meeting place of the Mexico Historical Society has been changed for Feb. 28 and March 28 to the 3 Oxford St. address. The February meeting will be 5:30 p.m. with a hot dish supper served.

Mexico Fire Chief Gary Wentzell was speaker at the last meeting. Among other items, Wentzell said the Mexico Junior Firefighters are a year old. Junior Firefighter Seth Marshall, 17, was named “Fire Fighter of the Year,” Wentzell stated.

Legion supper

RUMFORD – American Legion Post 24, 184 Congress St., will hold a ham supper from 4:30 p.m. until sold out on Thursday, March 2. Cost is $6 a person. Members and guests are welcome.

Prayer program

BETHEL – World Day of Prayer will be celebrated at Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church, Walkers Mill Road, at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 3. Snow date is March 10. Luncheon will follow.

This year’s theme is “Signs of the Times,” a service written by the women of South Africa. Representatives of area churches will participate in the service, including Rosemary McLean, Rosabelle Tifft, Lou Prado, Carolyn Gould, Amy Davis, Maggie Ring, Jane Hosterman, Barbara Mahler, Musa Brown, Virginia Walker, Gerry Shimamura, Angela Haines, Gwyneth Bohr and Susan Hurlihey. Ruth Silver will play the organ.
