AUBURN – Auburn Adult and Community Education will offer acrylic painting and creative watercolor with artist instructor, Barbara Hathaway of Wilton.

Acrylic painting will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays, beginning March 28. Creative watercolor will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, starting March 30.

Materials list includes watercolor paper, watercolor paints, three brushes, palette and a jar for water.

Students will learn techniques of practical color mixing and try texture experiments. Creative watercolor instruction and material will be from the Michael Wilcox School of Color. Students who have taken watercolor before are welcome to attend and learn the Wilcox mixing techniques.

Watercolor can also be used to make greeting cards and illustrate books. Acrylic paint is a quick-drying paint that is brilliant and durable. Students’ paintings will dry in time to frame on the last lesson.

Acrylic materials list includes a set of acrylic paints, 16- by 20-inch canvas, three brushes, palette and a jar for water. Students can choose to paint landscapes, seascapes, still lifes, flowers or animals.

Both courses are for beginners to intermediates and will be held at Edward Little High School, room 144. Hathaway has taught several sessions at Auburn Adult Ed. For more information and to register, call 784-9220.
