LEWISTON – The University of Southern Maine’s Lewiston-Auburn Campus will host an information session Wednesday, March 15, for the master of arts program in leadership studies.

The program, available only on the L-A campus, provides opportunities for organizational and community leaders to build a deep understanding of the dynamics of leadership, how leadership interacts with other human dynamics, and the role of the leader in society.

“The program is designed around a set of compelling outcomes: leadership, knowledge, skills and orientation,” said Dr. Marv Druker, associate professor at USM/L-A. “Students study leadership through the humanities and social sciences, as well as by examination of leadership research and theory.”

The course work integrates scholarship with fieldwork application to help students advance their skills in integrative analytic thinking and to develop their understanding of communities and organizations in a complex global society. International study for short, intensive courses designed for working students is also available.

The program is designed to enable working adults to pursue it on a part-time basis. Courses meet on a weekly basis and are scheduled in the late afternoon and evening.

The information session will be held Wednesday, March 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at USM/L-A, Westminster Street. Anyone interested in attending is asked to call the college at 753-6552. Applications for the program are being accepted on a rolling basis. Application materials are available on-line at www.usm.maine.edu/lac/programs.
