WEST PARIS – The Woman and the Woods Program has announced a beginner chain saw safety class to be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at Stearns Hill Farm.

Merle Ring and Patty Cormier, district foresters with the Maine Forest Service, will provide the training.

The class, first in a series, will cover safety, parts of a chain saw and protective clothing. The foresters will demonstrate safe methods of dropping a tree. Those who have a hard hat should bring it, but participants will not need a chain saw.
