AUBURN – Donald and Carmen LaChapelle of Auburn, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a trip to Mexico for eight days.

Mr. LaChapelle and the former Carmen Pierrette Carbonneau were married on Feb. 11, 1956, at St. Louis Church in Auburn by the Rev. M.G. Galarneau.

Children of the couple are Michael, Christine, Renee, James and Matthew, and their grandchildren are Ryan, Ashley, Emilee, Bradley, Megan, Joni, Luc and Cole. They also have step-grandchildren, Jason and Erica, and a step-great-grandchild, Alysia.

Mrs. LaChapelle is the daughter of the late Eusebe Joseph and Ovilina Exillia (Lamontagne) Carbonneau. She owned Pine Street News in Lewiston until five years ago. She is currently retired and works parttime at Head Start as a cook in Lewiston. She is a member of St. Philip’s Church in Auburn.

Mr. LaChapelle is the son of the late Arthur George and Anna Dorothy (Sullivan) LaChapelle. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a barber and then in several shoe shops and also at Philips Elmet. He also owned Pine Street News in Lewiston and is currently retired.
